Ingredients
- 1½ cups mashed ripe bananas
- ½ cup melted butter or neutral oil
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup mini chocolate chips (+ extra ½ cup for top)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare a 9×5″ loaf pan
2. Whisk bananas, butter/oil, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth
3. Sift in cocoa, then whisk in flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined
4. Fold in 1 cup chocolate chips and sprinkle remaining chips on top
5. Bake 55–65 min until a toothpick comes out mostly clean (tent with foil if browning too fast)
6. Cool in pan 10 min, then remove and cool completely on a rack before slicing
Notes
Use very ripe bananas for natural sweetness. Sift cocoa for lump-free batter. Use mini chips for even chocolate distribution. Tent with foil to prevent over-browning.
