Ingredients
- 1½ cups mashed very ripe bananas (about 3)
- ⅓–½ cup melted butter
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 large egg (beaten)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1½ cups all‑purpose flour
- ¾ cup semi‑sweet or dark chocolate chips (+ extra for top)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C); line or grease a 9×5″ loaf pan
2. Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl
3. Mix mashed bananas with butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth
4. Fold in dry mixture until just combined; avoid overmixing
5. Stir in chocolate chips, reserving a few to top the batter
6. Bake 55–65 minutes until a toothpick shows moist crumbs
7. Cool in pan 10 minutes, then fully cool before slicing
Notes
Use very ripe bananas with lots of brown spots for moisture. Coat chocolate chips in flour to keep them suspended. Cool fully before slicing for clean edges.
